coffee and strawberries

Last night I stayed out late with a friend I'm just starting to get to know. We talked about politics and religion, children and marriage, death and murder, ghosts and haunted castles, animal rights and hunting, military history and ideals..

And when I walked through the door at four a.m. I went to bed happy..

I started reading We The Living by Ayn Rand today. I'm in love with Kira, she's real and tangible with a depth that would make Tolstoy see green.

I love Tolstoy, but I've always felt that his characters were flimsy creatures.. children playing at being adults by laying claim over emotions they didn't know the first thing about.

But Ayn Rand's character's feel.
